Our Little Blueberry!

Here is what is going on with Baby Howard this week:

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

I wasn't feeling any better today than I have been.  It actually got worse.   I woke up from a dead sleep at 4AM this morning feeling like I was going to throw up, but I didn't.  Brian got me a mint, and that helped.  This morning when I was at work though, wasn't the same story.  I threw up at work for a little bit, and that was no fun.  I'm really hoping that I am nearing the end of the sickness.  On the high note, my house is clean, thanks to Tina, who came over to lend a helping hand since I'm not feeling so hot.  I'm hoping that I will be better tomorrow for work and my drive home to Owensboro.

Sick...

So whoever thought they should call it morning sickness didn't seem to have what I have.  I think I will just call mine "all day sickness" since that seems to be how it is trending.  Yesterday was really bad for me, but today was just some better.  Today I worked all day, and the first half of the day was pretty rough.  After I ate lunch, I started feeling a little bit better, so that was good.  After dinner though, I am back to not feeling so hot!  People are telling me that this could last for the next couple of weeks, and I'm praying that doesn't happen.  I just want it to pass and be done with it!  I'm sure my allergies aren't helping matters with all the sinus drainage running down my throat into my stomach upsetting it more than it already is!  What can you do, I guess?!  I snack constantly, eat so as to not let my stomach get empty, but that doesn't really seem to help.  Sigh!

Where we are so far!

So I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know kind of where we are and what is happening each week!!  This is where we are right now! 

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

Big News!!

Brian and I got back from our New York vacation late Monday night.  We had gone up there over Memorial Day weekend with our friends Paul and his now fiancee Nikki!  Besides our vacation up there, we were really excited about the fact that Paul was proposing to Nikki during our trip!  She obviously said yes!!!  We thought that was all the exciting news that we would encounter for the trip!  Well, on Tuesday (Brian and I had both taken that day off in order to unpack and wind down from our trip), I decided that I should take another pregnancy test.  I had taken 2 prior to our trip (a couple of weeks apart) but both had turned out negative.  For some reason, I thought I should take another one just in case.  Well, this time, it came out positive.   I called my doctor and they told me to come in for a blood test, so we immediately went and did that.  Yesterday morning (May 27th) I got a call from my doctor's office saying that my results were in.  I called them back, and they told me that I was 6.5 weeks along!!!!  

Brian and I are both so excited!!!  So if we did our math correctly, it looks like our little one will be here around January 19th--2 days before both our mom's birthday!  My first doctor's appointment is on June 16th, so I'm looking forward to that!!  

I wanted to create this blog so that our friends and family who don't live near us, can stay informed about what's going on and follow our pregnancy with us!!
